As August 6 came to a close in Hiroshima, the peace logo and "peace" in three languages appeared in Central Park (Naka-ku, see photo - 7:30 pm). Thirteen hundred Toro lanterns in red and yellow depicted "peace" in kanji (Japanese and Chinese characters), Korea, and Arabic.
This project was the work of young people from Hiroshima and Tokyo. It was the same group that, last March during the build-up to the Iraq War, gathered 6,000 people in the same park to write the "human message."
"Let's get it together, slowly, without pressure." "Let's be friends." This call went out by Internet and word of mouth, and about 400 people, including many non-Japanese, gathered and presented the wishes for peace of about 900 people who were unable to attend in person.
The new peace style of youth brightened the evening on the 58th anniversary.
