Richard M. Nixon (1913-1994)

37th president of the United States. Visited Hiroshima in 1964 when he was vice president. Visit to China in 1972 resulted in improved U.S.-Chinese relations. With Henry Kissinger, National Security Advisor, carried out Nixon-Kissinger diplomacy, including the complete withdrawal of U.S. troops from Vietnam in 1973. Re-elected in 1972 but was forced to resign in 1974 when it was revealed he had engineered the Watergate scandal.
