EU 'disappointed' by Pakistan's nuclear tests
BRUSSELS, May 29 Kyodo - The European Union (EU) said Friday it was ''deeply disappointed'' by Pakistan's nuclear tests and urged India and Pakistan not to enter an arms race.
''The European Commission is deeply disappointed by Pakistan which conducted five nuclear tests, in reaction to Indian experiments, in defiance of calls for restraint by the international community,'' the commission, the EU's executive body, said in a statement.
''The commission is seriously concerned by these developments which cause a revival of tension and insecurity in southern Asia,'' the statement said.
Pakistan detonated five nuclear devices Thursday, in retaliation to India's five nuclear tests two weeks ago.
