The Gensuikin and Gensuikyo world conferences held in Naka-ku, Hiroshima on the 6th adopted appeals for the abolition of nuclear weapons and closed. Both conferences moved to Nagasaki on the 7th, where deliberations will continue.
The Gensuikin general conference, held in Prefectural Citizens Hall, was attended by approximately 750 people, who heard reports from seven working groups on themes such as American nuclear strategy and eliminating nuclear power. The Fukuyama secretariat summarized the proceedings saying, "We need to strengthen international coordination for nuclear disarmament and the abolition of nuclear weapons."
The conference then adopted its Hiroshima Appeal, which demanded legal standing for the three non-nuclear principles and application of relief laws to survivors living overseas.
Approximately 7,000 people attended the Hiroshima Closing Plenary Session of the Gensuikyo World Conference held in the Prefectural Auditorium. Foreign representatives from China, Fiji, India, and France expressed their determination to work more closely with all countries to abolish nuclear weapons. The conference adopted a Call from Hiroshima that declared, "In all countries, we will work to end the US first-strike policy and conclude a comprehensive treaty banning all nuclear weapons."
