HIROSHIMA, Aug. 3 Kyodo -- Two teenagers from India will join Sunday their counterparts from Pakistan and the United States in an youth exchange program in Hiroshima, organizers said Saturday.
A civic group in the city holding the event to promote peaceful exchanges between young people from the nuclear rivals of South Asia invited four teenagers from India, but only two are expected to arrive Sunday.
One, aged 15, is from an area affected by radioactive pollution from a uranium mine, the organizers said.
The pair will join participants from Pakistan and the U.S. already in Hiroshima for the 13-day program that runs through next Friday. The group is scheduled to attend a peace memorial ceremony in Hiroshima on Tuesday to commemorate the 1945 U.S. atomic bombing of the city.
