TOKYO, Aug. 2 Kyodo -- National Public Safety Commission Chairman Jin Murai will visit the United States from Saturday through next Thursday, the National Police Agency said Friday.
Murai will discuss the current situation and issues related to measures against terrorism following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks against the U.S. last year with U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft and other government officials in an effort to strengthen Japan-U.S. cooperation, the agency said.
Murai will visit New York and Washington and will exchange opinions with government officials on their views about terrorism, measures against terrorist funding, and on how organizations fighting terrorism should function, it added.
